El Patriarca Mor Ignatius Aphrem II va visitar ahir la ciutat
siriana de Sadad, de majoria cristiana. Es va centrar en veure de primera mà la situació després de l'intent de forces islamistes d'ocupar-la. Les forces de la milícia Sootoro, les NDF i el propi exèrcit sirià van refusar la invasió.Aphrem II va visitar els milicians cristians siríacs al front.
Aphrem II és el Patriarca de l'Església Siríaca Ortodoxa o Jacobita, una de les esglésies ortodoxes orientals (per tant independent del Patriarcat de Constantinoble) que no va acceptar el Concili de Calcedònia (451). Avui s'han centrat en analitzar la violència que pateixen els cristians de l'Orient que han vist com un període de prova que pateix l'església de Crist.

His Holiness Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited the town of Sadad after it suffered from the attacks of terrorist groups who tried to invade it.
His Holiness presided over a funeral service of a martyr in Mor Mikhael Church.
His Eminence Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh, Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, welcomed His Holiness and thanked him for his fatherly love and care for all the faithful, especially the people of Sadad.
His Holiness also prayed in the cemetery of the town for the souls of the martyrs and all the faithful departed.
His Holiness listened to the reports on the attacks that took place a few days ago and prayed for the security in Sadad.
His Eminence Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Secretary, and His Grace Mor Maurice Amsih, Director of Public Relations, accompanied His Holiness in this visit.
